Welcome to voice lessons at Ohrstrom Studios! I am pleased to provide private voice instruction to you, and ask that you please familiarize yourself with my policies.
About Lessons
Wear comfortable clothing and shoes that permit free movement, stable alignment, and full breathing.
Bring a device to record your lesson.
Bring your music and a pencil to each lesson.
Students are expected to come to lessons prepared and ready to work. This means that you have studied and practiced your repertoire, and worked on technique from past lessons. If you are practiced and eager to learn, so much more can be accomplished than if you come unprepared.
Lessons are not the place to learn your music, nor do they take the place of practicing on your own. Both of those are to be done outside of and in preparation for your lessons. You will not progress if you expect your lesson to be your once a week practice. If students come chronically unprepared for their lessons, I will suggest another studio for you.
Rates
My rate for lessons are $85/hour for students who take regular lessons, and $95/hour for intermittent lessons. Priority scheduling goes to students with regularly scheduled lessons. Lessons are billed through Fons, a secure online payment service.
Materials
You will need to have a binder, a pencil, and your music. It is preferred you also have a device to record your lessons, but is not required. Occasionally you will be required to purchase additional music, books, etc. Advance notice will be given for such occasions. Extra supplies that are helpful to have on hand for marking music are highlighters, tabs, white-out, and paper clips.
Scheduling and Payment
-Lessons will begin and end at the scheduled time.
-Lessons cancelled with more than 24 hours notice will be rescheduled at no further cost.
-Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, day-of, and no-shows are non-refundable.
-You must finish setting up your Fons account before your first lesson, and approve any and all lesson appointments. You will be automatically charged by Fons at the end of your lesson.
